Silver Bullet AM™ HVAC White Epoxy Coating

Silver Bullet AM™ is an antimicrobial coating that is used on surfaces to help protect them from retaining bacteria, mold, algae and fungi. This coating system is ideal for commercial ductwork, HVAC systems and components. Silver’s stable ion exchange process represents a significant improvement over standard organic antimicrobials that dissipate rapidly.

Antimicrobial Epoxy Coating System – Protect Against Bacteria Mold Fungi – Silver Bullet AM™ HVAC White

Silver Bullet AM™ with Agion® Technology is a high gloss, high durability water based epoxy that contains a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent. Once applied, it has the ability to protect the coating surface from a broad spectrum of bacteria, fungi, mold, mildew, and algae. Silver Bullet AM works by disrupting the reproduction and inhibiting metabolism of microbial cells. Silver Bullet AM is for interior applications only. VOC compliant (171g/l or 1.45 # per gallon).

Applications for Antimicrobial Paint Coatings:

Commercial / Industrial :
Increased emphasis on antimicrobial protective surface control and the need for enhanced measures to reduce bacterial presence on sheet metal surfaces in commercial ductwork applications.

Bio Shield Tech's Silver Bullet Solution:
To address industry needs for effective protective coatings, Bio Shield Tech introduced an ultra high-performance coating system for HVAC applications. The product identified as Silver Bullet AM® inhibits the growth of a broad spectrum of bacteria, mold, and fungi in addition to providing long-term protection against severe wash chemicals. Highly durable and corrosion-resistant, Silver Bullet’s active ingredient is its namesake: silver, a safe and natural antimicrobial with proven success in food processing applications. A highly durable coating, Silver Bullet can be applied to plant equipment, walls, ceilings and other appropriate surfaces to reduce microbiological contamination and propagation.

How Silver Bullet AM Antimicrobial coating works:
Because it is an inorganic antimicrobial, silver has been able to address many of the issues associated with its organic counterparts that have been developed over the years. These include thermal stability, environmental compatibility, effective life expectancy, and bacterial resistance. Silver inhibits reproduction, interrupts metabolism, and disrupts cell wall functions of many molds, yeasts, and bacteria. Harnessing the power of silver in its ionic form, Silver Bullet’s antimicrobial compound has been proven to provide microbial efficacy within hours, and able to maintain optimal performance for years. A compound of elemental silver,  Silver Bullet’s antimicrobial additive uses a  zeolite carrier that allows a controlled and effective release of the silver ions. The controlled release of silver and copper ions results in a long-lasting, on- demand, an antimicrobial effect on bacteria and suppresses future contamination. Silver’s stable ion exchange process represents a significant improvement over standard organic antimicrobials that dissipate rapidly.

How Silver Bullet AM™ is a Safe an Effective Antimicrobial Coating:
Rigorous laboratory studies subjecting Silver Bullet-coated equipment through intense test conditions prove that the coatings can withstand a wide array of chemical and temperature extremes. Independent tests show that even under severe conditions, Silver Bullet AM continues to provide a significant reduction in various types of bacteria commonly associated with medical equipment, textiles and metal surfaces.

Silver Bullet AM is available in Black, White and Clear

Required Curing Agent: 16-CURE; mixing ratio (2) parts “A” + (1) part “B” by volume

Recommended Primers: Usually used over properly cleaned and prepared Galvanized Steel and Stainless Steel. Steel Plus Epoxy Primer or Prime Solution 5250 Red/5253 Gray

Surface Preparation Silver Bullet AM™ Antimicrobial Coating:

Required on all metal or old coatings: Remove all dirt, grease, oil, salt and chemical contaminants by washing the surface with BC-4000 cleaner or other suitable cleaners. Thoroughly cured old coatings or new smooth metal may require scuff sanding for maximum adhesion.
Moderate Exposure: Abrasive blast the surface to SSPC-SP-6 commercial blast before priming.
Severe Exposure: Abrasive blast the surface to SSPC-SP-10 near white blast before priming.

How to Apply Silver Bullet Antimicrobial Epoxy Paints:

Apply only when air and surface temperatures are between 50oF and 100oF and surface temperature is at least 5oF above the dew point.

Thinning Silver Bullet Antimicrobial Epoxy Coating:
Using Roller or a Brush: Use as mixed. Dilute with water as needed.
Using an Air Atomized Sprayer: Dilute up to 5-10% with water if needed.
Using an Airless Sprayer: Normally, no dilution needed.
Steel Plus CE Clean Up: Use soap and water

Recommended Equipment to Use when Applying Antimicrobial Epoxy Coating:

Filter: Use 100 mesh stainless steel screen or nylon bag when needed
Brush: Use a quality synthetic bristle brush
Roller: Use quality roller cover
Air Atomized Sprayer: Please follow the equipment manufacturers nozzle and needle selection recommendation for use with medium viscosity paints. Spray at 45-60 psi.
Airless Sprayer: 1800-2400 psi with 0.011-0.013 tip
Hot Spraying Temperature: 120F
